Stressed? Overwhelmed? Take the First Step Towards Peace with Dream CPR

Stressed? Overwhelmed? Take the First Step Towards Peace with Dream CPR

Dear Reader,

Turn Off the Noise Turn on Dream CPR

I’d like to challenge you to turn off your news for one hour a day. Unplug from the constant stream of information and emergencies. Instead, put on Dream CPR and engage in activities that don’t involve communication, YouTube, texting, or similar distractions.

The Challenge

• Turn off news and social media for one hour daily

• Listen to Dream CPR during this time

• Engage in relaxing activities like journaling, drawing, or stretching

Suggested Activities

During your hour of unplugging, consider:

• Resting

• Journaling

• Writing down thoughts about issues you’re facing

• Creating a story or poem

• Drawing or coloring

• Stretching or gentle exercise

• Practicing deep breathing

• Doing a grounding exercise

• Cooking or baking

Track Your Progress

Try this for a few consecutive days. At the end of this period, reflect on how you feel compared to when you began.

Here are the scientific benefits of reducing exposure to stressors and spending time in nature or unplugging:

• Decreased activity in the amygdala, the brain’s fear center

• Reduced threat reactivity and anxiety responses

• Increased activity in prefrontal cortex regions associated with attentional control

• Enhanced ability to regulate emotions and inhibit threat responses

• Improved connectivity between the amygdala and prefrontal cortex

• Potential reduction in symptoms of anxiety and stress-related disorders

• Improved sleep quality

• Enhanced focus and increased productivity

-SIMPLIFIED EXPLANATION-

Imagine your brain as a busy kitchen, with the amygdala as the dreaded fire alarm and the prefrontal cortex as the head chef. When you’re constantly bombarded with stressful news and social media, that fire alarm goes off every time someone plugs in a toaster or opens an oven.

When you unplug, it's like having a calm firefighting guardian step in, turn off the alarm, and assume fire prevention responsibility. Finally, the head chef can focus the team on what is important and not just urgent.

The result? You’re less likely to freak out over small things, and more likely to make well-thought-out decisions. Be patient with yourself. This is practice. Mistakes and frustration are allowed.

Your Feedback

Now it’s your turn. I’d love to hear from you. Which album or track has resonated with you the most? Which albums or tracks are you finding that help you? I’d love to hear your feedback on this ever-evolving project.

The creation of Dream CPR Tracks is similar to a sculptor. I’ve taken sound FX, nature, streams, percussion, and measures away. There are faint motifs that occur in several tracks but more as a bridge to connect the sound than as a traditional melody.
