Crafting Serenity The Dream CPR Journey

The Genesis of Dream CPR
The name came from my own life. I realized that my dreams had been neglected and that while I thought they had died, they were very much still alive. I realized they just needed a little CPR. I needed to dust off my dreams, write them down, and re-evaluate which were still solid dreams of mine and which had transformed as dreams often do into another form. If so, what form?
For this, I needed sounds to block out the deafening silence and that wouldn’t peak my interest too much. I needed simple sounds that were soothing but not so stunning that they grabbed my attention. I couldn’t find any that I liked so I decided to create my own.
Resonating with Listeners
It has been a fun experiment to see what has resonated most with people. It is incredible that so many listeners are responding so positively to the project. I’m always composing with you, my listener, in mind. How would I feel if I was listening to this?
Emulating Waves: The “Dream CPR” Album
For the self-titled album “Dream CPR” I took a very different approach and worked to emulate waves of water. I imagine instead of flooding your ears with the sounds of rising and falling notes. I used gentle attacks and long releases to create the effect and I enjoyed it so I felt confident you would as well.
Creating a Sonic Surrounding
I realized I was composing music that was creating a sonic surrounding rather than a piece demanding attention. I invite you to listen to the albums on a stereo if possible. Put it at a low volume and let it play. Then, I suggest you just do whatever you would’ve done during the time with the album on in the background. When the album finishes check in with yourself and see how you’re feeling in comparison to how you typically feel. If you feel less tense, then the albums are allowing you the necessary environment to decompress and rejuvenate.
Noise Cancelling Sounds for Stress: A Sonic Safety Net
I view the albums of Dream CPR like a sonic safety net. It is there whenever you need to decompress for a bit. The waves help dissolve the stress and soon you’re on the journey towards healing, recovering, and getting back out there. My hope is that the music on the various albums are able to provide you that environment where you can rest, and regain
