A Practice, Not an Answer

A Practice, Not an Answer

As I create new albums for Dream CPR I try different concepts with each. I work on the timing and frequencies of the pitches as well as the harmonic flow. I work to balance the technical and artistic side of the track so that you are left with something that can help you feel relaxed.

A Work in Progress

Much like our lives are works in progress, so too is Dream CPR. I strive to continue creating more music that serves the purpose of helping you find relief and shelter from your stress and provide you with the frequencies that can recharge you from within.

The Quest for the Ultimate Sound Palette

I will be experimenting and working to figure out the ultimate sound palette. This may take years to truly discover, if ever. This is what keeps me so engaged and excited about the project. There are always new ways to approach this and sound to shape.

An Evolving Concept

While the main concept of stripping away as much of what structures music in terms of rhythm and melody, each album is unique. None go beyond the realm of simplicity so that you remain the focus and the sounds are supported.

Each album tries new methods and sounds in the realm of relaxation:

  • “Dream CPR 2 Renew” utilized more lush layers that swept into one another.
  • “Dream CPR” took a simpler approach. Instead of using lush sounds, I wanted more sparse sounds that faded in and out. There is more silence on this album than others.
  • “Dream CPR III” fused elements of the first two albums with new sound designs.
  • “Dream CPR IV” (Coming Feb. 26) The cycle of fourths was used to select keys (frequencies) for the pieces. The sounds begin to implement some deep drones.

Your Feedback

Now it’s your turn. I’d love to hear from you. Which album or track has resonated with you the most? Which albums or tracks are you finding that help you? I’d love to hear your feedback on this ever-evolving project.

Musical Sculpting

The creation of Dream CPR Tracks is similar to a sculptor. I’ve taken sound FX, nature, streams, percussion, and measures away. There are faint motifs that occur in several tracks but more as a bridge to connect the sound than as a traditional melody.
